M’Dears Desserts was conceived in the warm kitchen of Tiffany, Kelton and Marissa’s Grandma Shug. Shug, a Shereveport, Louisiana transplant and M’Dear, the matriarch of the family would cook and bake up a storm every June when she would come to visit. Sunday dinners always included from-scratch peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, banana pudding, sock-it-to-me cake and coconut cake. But all the grandchildren knew they had to finish their greens before they could get any of these goodies.

 

We started our adventure with a hot dog cart

on what is now known as the Promenade
in Long Beach’s downtown. We grew to
selling our fabulous desserts at local
jazz and blues festivals. Our popularity
grew quickly and In 2003, after 10 years
of successfully building the M‘Dears
Desserts brand and reputation,
we moved into a quaint location
on Western Avenue in Los Angeles.
We expanded our menu to include
breakfast, lunch and supper and
M'Dears Bakery & Bistro was born.

 

Today we spend seven days a week
serving up our famous sweet & savory
homestyle recipes to our satisfied
customers. We provide catering for
events, parties and banquets and now
have two locations to serve you.

 

The M’Dears family is also proud to introduce
our third generation chefs! We’re passing down
our special recipes and traditions to assure that M’Dears
will be around for a very long time to come.
